The stretch of coastline between Tangier and Asilah was recently tipped by CNN to be “the next French Riviera” chiefly because of the similar landscapes of the Cote d’Azur and Asilah. As you drive along the coast road lined with silver birch and pine you can gaze across the fields of deep-purple and mustard-yellow wildflowers, to the wide stretches of pristine beach beyond.

Asilah is also home to a thriving artist colony which soon becomes evident with a stroll through the maze-like streets of the old souk, where around nearly every corner the visitor is greeted by colourful murals painted on the wall of the artist’s houses.
Every summer the town attracts over 100,000 people to its Literary Festival which is held in the new Hassan II International Meeting Center, funded by investment from Prince Bandar bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia who has been a long term visitor to the town.
